Axillium Research has been awarded a new contract for a pilot project with the UK Defence Solutions Centre (UKDSC), through ADS, to develop the Cross-Sector Innovation Framework (CSIF).
The CSIF pilot will identify cross-sector Research & Development opportunities to align the best technologies from adjacent Defence and Commercial industries, and engage the public & private value chain with innovation opportunities aligned with future International defence capability needs.
With a focus on bringing together SMEs with traditional defence suppliers, the CSIF pilot will identify cross-sector growth opportunities such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence & autonomy, which can be exploited through public and private investment.
The pilot builds on the Defence Growth Partnership’s (DGP) Dual-Use Technology Exploitation £22m innovation cluster, which was established in September 2015 to support innovation & exploitation in defence of future technologies.
Helen Corney, Director, Axillium stated, “We are delighted to work with UKDSC and to demonstrate the expertise and value Axillium can add to the defence sector. Working with the DGP has identified clear potential and opportunity to bring together the Defence sector needs with the best innovations from all areas of the UK industry.”
Andrew Cunningham, Innovation Director, UKDSC highlighted “CSIF is a core element of our future innovation focus, and a key element of our work within the Defence Growth Partnership. It is great to be working with Axillium to bring this to life to help secure future UK Defence growth”.
