Innovate UK Funding
An agent for change in the UK economy
Innovate UK is the UK’s innovation agency. Innovate UK Funding is available for people, companies and partner organisations to find and drive the science and technology innovations that will grow the UK economy.
The agency has achieved significant change in the UK in line with their annual Delivery Plan, and have committed over £1.8 billion to innovation since 2007; adding more than £11.5 billion to the UK economy and creating 55,000 extra jobs.
Innovate UK have structured their organisation, and funding programmes into 4 clear sector groups and an Open Call.
2018/19 applications are able for the following:
Emerging & Enabling
This programme is focussed on investing in technologies and capabilities which lead to new and disruptive products and services.
Regular funding competitions are launched every March and October
Manufacturing & Materials
This programme is focussed on the development, validation and application of cross-cutting manufacturing and materials, technologies and processes.
Regular funding competitions are launched every May and November
Health & Life Sciences
This programme is focussed on investing in new developments which improve our understanding and control or intervention in biological systems.
Regular funding competitions are launched every February and September
Infrastructure Systems
This programme is focussed on market opportunities in optimising transport and energy systems, and integrating these with other systems such as health and digital in an urban context.
Regular funding competitions are launched every January and July
Open Call
This programme supports businesses to address high-growth opportunities regardless of sector.
Regular funding competitions are launched every June and December
As well as the regular funding competitions noted above, a range of additional competitions within each sector targetting specific technologies are launched throughout the year
